Design-Build
New Construction
GMH Associates was Lead Design Firm for this approximately 28,900 SF armory for the 11th Marines. The building includes administrative spaces, restrooms, storage rooms, classrooms, storage for small arms and emergency gear and supporting civil, mechanical, telecommunication, electrical infrastructure. Covered weapons cleaning tables are being provided in close proximity to the armory structure.
The design consists of a single story, heavily reinforced building meeting the MIL-HDBK-1013/1A, Physical Security of Facilities, MIL-HDBK-1013/10, Design Guidelines for Security Fencing, Gates, Barriers, and Guard Facilities, May 1993, OPNAVINST 5530.13C, 2003
The design provides for a single point of entry secured with a Class 5 vault door with a day gate. Marines entering the facility are screened at the duty officer's station. All of the administration areas and classrooms are located adjacent to the entrance, permitting immediate access.
The largest portion of the facility consists of small arms storage areas. The building is a consolidated armory serving the P-726 Battery and HQ Battery. Wire mesh cages divide the space to accommodate the installation of weapons storage lockers. The Mechanical, Telecommunication and Electrical rooms are accessed from the yard and sealed from the small arms storage area.
