Renovation/Repair

GMH Associates, Inc. provided construction documentation, cost estimates and engineering studies to repair and improve Building 53502 and rehabilitate Building 53402. The buildings were originally constructed in the early 1950's to serve as mess halls.

Building 53502 was retained as a mess hall and its useful life was extended by upgrading the structural and operational systems to current standards for life safety and health requirements. This includes new interior finishes, new food service equipment, new plumbing, HVAC, lighting, power and alarm systems, and a new wet pipe fire suppression system. Additionally, the building was reconfigured to provide patron toilets and new office spaces.

Building 53402 was used as a temporary mess hall while Building 53502 was renovated. Temporary kitchen trailers were specified to prepare meals; the building was used for seating and service.
